Orthodontic Treatment Benefits in Oklahoma City
If you were to create a list of what elements compose a beautiful smile, it is likely that straight, evenly spaced teeth would be high on the list. People who suffer from orthodontic problems know how they negatively affect the aesthetics of their smiles.
When the only option for treating orthodontic problems was unsightly and potentially painful metal braces, many patients decided they would rather have the crooked teeth than have treatment. Since Invisalign was introduced in 2000, many adult patients are seeking treatment for orthodontic problems they had decided to ignore. In fact, adults account for nearly 30 percent of all orthodontic patients.
Invisalign Treatment Process
The first step is a consultation with Dr. Rykard. During this appointment, he will examine your orthodontic problems and ensure that you are a good candidate for Invisalign. Once you and the doctor decide that Invisalign is the best choice for your needs, he will take x-rays, photos, and impressions of your teeth. The dental lab that creates the Invisalign aligners uses this information to create a treatment plan and map out how your teeth need to move.
It normally takes about two weeks for the lab to create your aligners. At this time, you will return to our office. We will give you instructions regarding the aligners and answer questions you may have about them. You will receive your first sets of aligner trays. You will need to wear them for at least 20 hours a day, the only time they should be removed is when you are eating, drinking (anything other than water), or caring for your teeth. You will see Dr. Rykard every six to eight weeks so he can assess the movement of your teeth to ensure they are moving according to plan. At this time, you will also receive your next batch of aligner trays.
Dr. Rykard has been using Invisalign for several years to improve his patients’ smiles in Oklahoma City and neighboring communities, including Edmond. Call our office at (405) 896-6919 and schedule your consultation, to discover what Invisalign can do for you.
