Oklahoma City Periodontist Providing Gum Disease Treatment
Dental treatment is something that most people give little thought to, unless they have a throbbing or aching tooth or swollen or bleeding gums. Preventative care is the key to keeping tooth decay and gum disease at bay. However, when issues do arise, it’s important to have, or find, a dentist you trust who will provide you with friendly and expert care.
How do find a dentist to provide you with treatment for tooth decay, gum disease, or other dental issues? Consider these tips:
- The dentist: Does the dentist have the knowledge and experience to make you feel comfortable with his treatment plan? Does he treat you with respect and do you feel comfortable under his care? Because the field of dentistry is always changing, ideally you will find a dentist who has experience in tried-and-true treatments along with the continuing education to stay abreast of new techniques and treatment methods. You should also feel comfortable asking questions or voicing your concerns.
- The team: From your initial phone call to when you’re leaving your appointment, are you treated respectfully by friendly and caring professionals? While the dentist is crucial to your treatment, you will also be in contact with an entire team during your visit. You should feel comfortable with all of them and confident that the care of your mouth is their first priority.
- The office: Is the office near your place of business or your home? If you need to come back for follow-up appointments, will it be convenient to get there? Is the facility up-to-date and in good condition? Is the equipment state-of-the-art? Is everything clean? Does the office make you feel calm and relaxed? When searching for a dentist, it’s important to consider the environment as well. Going to the dentist isn’t typically on anyone’s “want to do” list, so be sure that the office doesn’t increase your anxiety.
